Mo Donegal finishes 1st at 2022 Belmont Stakes

ELMONT, N.Y. — With an official time of 2:28.28, Mo Donegal won the 154th Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York’s Belmont Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mo Donegal’s Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher triumphed a second time watching his other Belmont trainee, Nest, take second place, CBS Sports reported.

Skippylongstocking placed third.

Pletcher’s previous victories at Belmont Stakes were with Rags to Riches in 2007, Palace Malice in 2013, and Tapwrit in 2017, the sports news network reported.

Likewise, Mike Repole, who owns both Mo Donegal and Nest, “watched as Mo Donegal passed We the People and Skippylongstocking on the outside in the stretch of the 2022 Belmont Stakes,” The Sporting News reported.

According to CBS Sports, Mo Donegal entered Saturday’s race as the top pick with 5/2 odds, notching all three of his previous wins at the New York track.

Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike finished sixth, the network reported.
