NEW YORK — A New York man was arrested Saturday after police found a body burning in his backyard.
Suffolk County police said they were called to a home on Long Island around 2:30 a.m. for a report about a fire in a backyard, WCBS reported.
When they arrived, they found a body burning on the property, WABC reported. The fire was extinguished. The victim has not been identified but is believed to be a man, WPIX reported.
Peter Pendzinski, 20, who lived at the home, was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, WABC reported. He was later arrested and charged with murder. He will be arraigned at a later date.
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identify the victim.
