BALTIMORE — Police are searching for thieves that made a quick getaway after stealing an ATM from a liquor store.
Officers with the Baltimore Police Department were called to the scene of the theft on Saturday afternoon, WJZ reported. Investigators said they were called to a “reported larceny of an ATM” at Red Fish Liquors.
Police told WBAL that surveillance video shows three men at the door of the liquor store. Video shows two of the men go into the store, where they disconnect the ATM before carrying it out as the third man holds the door open.
Police said the theft took 30 seconds, and that the men put the ATM into a vehicle and drove it away, WBAL reported.
“They probably have been in this store before. I don’t know if they are local. (They) Could be coming from anywhere and came to this area because it’s a nice area,” a store employee told WBAL. “I think it’s not surprising. People are desperate. They know they can get away with this stuff.”
Baltimore police told WJZ that there have been nearly a dozen ATMs stolen in the city since July, as well as an additional six attempted thefts of ATMs.
