Princess Eugenie, husband welcome first child, a baby boy

LONDON — Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have welcomed their first child, a son, Buckingham Palace announced Tuesday.

Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and 10th in line to the British throne, gave birth just before 9 a.m. to a healthy 8-pound, 1-ounce boy, Reuters reported, citing a palace statement.

The child is the ninth great-grandchild for the queen and Prince Phillip and the first grandchild for Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, People reported.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” the palace statement continued.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Eugenie announced the news via Instagram, sharing a black-and-white photo of the new arrival’s hands in those of his parents.

The royal couple were wed at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018. Another Instagram post shared by Eugenie on Sept. 25 featured the couple holding a fluffy pair of bear slippers and a simple message: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021 …”
