Actor Sean Penn said Monday that he had a “COVID-19″ wedding last week to actress Leila George.
The actor confirmed on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that he married George last week via Zoom, the Los Angeles Times reported.
When Meyers asked Penn if the rumors were true about his marriage, the Academy Award-winning actor waved his left hand to show a gold wedding band.
“We did a COVID wedding,” Penn told Meyers. “By that I mean it was a county commissioner on Zoom and we were at the house (with) my two children and her brother, and we did it that way.”
Penn, who turns 60 on Aug. 17, was unperturbed by the low-key wedding, CNN reported.
“Let’s say there are socially liberating factors under COVID,” Penn told Meyers.
George, 28, is the daughter of actors Vincent D’Onofrio and Greta Scacchi, Vanity Fair reported.
This is Penn’s third marriage, while George got married for the first time, the Times reported. Penn was previously married to Madonna for four years, and to Robin Wright for 14 years, the newspaper reported.
Penn and Wright have two adult children together.
Penn is a co-founder of the nonprofit organization Community Organized Relief Effort, which helps expand availability of coronavirus testing, according to CNN.
