Those who get the benefits — those with disabilities, the blind or low-income older Americans — will see $1,200 for single people earning under $75,000 and $2,400 for married couples who earn less than $150,000.

According to the Social Security Administration, the average monthly SSI benefit is $541.

The payments are part of the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to offset the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SSA said checks were to be directly deposited into the accounts of SSI recipients by midnight Wednesday. Those who have their SSI benefits check mailed to them will receive the stimulus payment the same way. Those checks are set to be mailed Friday.

"You should receive your $1,200 payment in the same way you receive your monthly SSI payment,” according to the SSA website.

Most Social Security recipients have already received their payment, according to the SSA website.
