JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville-based All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has scored a coup, landing a major talent in the professional wrestling world.
Paul Wight, who wrestled under the name Big Show in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), will now be joining AEW. Tony Khan, son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan and president/CEO/general manager for AEW, made the announcement Wednesday.
Other wrestlers have left WWE for AEW, according to Bleacher Report. including Jon Moxley, Brodie Lee -- who died in December -- Shawn Spears, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, who used to be known in WWE as Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper, Tye Dillinger, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder respectively.
Matt Hardy joined AEW under the same name in March 2020.
Scoring Wight isn’t AEW’s only big announcement this week.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is set to step into the wrestling ring for a match against Cody Rhodes in a live episode of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, March 3 at Daily’s Place, which is where AEW holds most of its live events.
The event will have 15 percent capacity and fans can purchase tickets at AEWTIX.com starting at $20.
All guests are required to wear face coverings of the nose and mouth and to physically distance from any person who is not a member of their pod.
