Jacksonville Jaguars subject of scathing letter written by NFL Players Association

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars were the subject of a scathing letter written to NFL players by the NFL Players Association.

The Jaguars lost a grievance through an arbitrator over requiring injured players to rehab and see medical staff at the team facility during the off season.

This is an optional practice for the players and the Jaguars - according to the grievance - made it mandatory.

The letter from the NFLPA mentions that one player was fined 25 times for missing “mandatory” appointments with the trainer or physician.

That player, who has since been identified as former Jags player Dante Fowler, Jr, was fined over $700,000. Fowler didn’t have to pay after the union won the grievance.

The other part of the letter that caught the league’s attention Monday is that 25% of the grievances filed in the NFL the last two seasons have come against the Jaguars.

This is not a good look for the Jags organization and the team’s front office led by Executive Vice President Tom Coughlin.

The final line of the NFLPA letter encourages players to consider this report when choosing their next team.

It reads, “You as players may want to consider this when you have a chance to select your next club.”
