WATCH: Jacksonville Jaguars’ new head coach Urban Meyer explains why he chose the team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s the talk of the town! Action News Jax reported Thursday when Urban Meyer was named the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new head coach.

Meyer, a three-time national college champion coach, will become the team’s seventh head coach in the team’s history.

In an interview released on the team’s official social media profiles Friday, the team’s head coach discusses why he chose the Jaguars.

During the interview, Meyer was asked a few questions, like, why he made the move from college coaching to a National Football League team, and what he believes is his biggest challenge at the moment.

“It had to be perfect. This was not a knee-jerk reaction. This is something that I’ve been studying for a long time. Not necessarily this job, but just the NFL in particular. And then this one, the opportunity presented itself,” Meyer said.

Meyer added he and his family have spent a lot of time in Florida and he loves the city of Jacksonville.

“Quite honestly, Duval and 904 deserve a chance to go win, and I’m going to hire people who want to help the Jaguars win and do the very best,” Meyer said.

When asked what is the greatest challenge ahead for Meyer, he replied, “It starts with hiring an elite staff, and I want to spend so much time on that.”
