JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Several Jacksonville Sheriff's Office units were spotted outside a home owned by former Jacksonville Jaguars player Telvin Smith.

Sky Action News Jax flew over the Queen's Harbour home on Wednesday night.

A black SUV was loaded onto a flatbed and towed from the home with a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser following behind it.

Action News Jax reporter Meghan Moriarty saw a crime scene unit van parked outside of Smith's home. Moriarty also saw a JSO car parked directly in front of the front door and some officers guarding the front door.

Inside a JSO crime scene van, which had its doors open, Moriarty saw brown paper bags.

We are working to learn what the police activity is related to.

Neighbors told Moriarty that Smith did not take care of his home. They said his yard was overgrown, and he recently brought in a giant dumpster. It’s currently parked in front of his home.

Action News Jax did some investigating and found that in the last six months, there have only been three crimes within a ½ mile of Smith's home:
-    1 burglary
-    1 car break-in
-    1 larceny
None of the crimes listed included a weapon.

In May, Smith announced that he would not be playing football during the 2019 season. The Jaguars released the following statement on Wednesday's police activity outside of Smith's home:

"Telvin is currently on our reserve/retired list, so you'll need to reach out to his representatives for comments on Telvin's personal life."
