JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after an elderly woman was hit by an SUV on Normandy Boulevard.

According to the crash report, at approximately 5:45 a.m. Monday, a blue SUV from Juliette, Georgia was traveling westbound on Normandy Boulevard near Normandy Village Parkway. At the same time, a 61-year-old woman from Jacksonville was crossing the roadway.
FHP said that woman walked into the path of the SUV. The 45-year-old driver did not see her in time, and the front of his car hit the woman. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

FHP said that the woman was not crossing at a crosswalk.
Normandy Boulevard remains closed down as troopers work to clear the scene.
