AND Action News Jax is now *giving away* two weather stations - one Fri., Jan. 17th & the second Fri., Jan. 24th. Click on the QR code below or log on * here *.

We are now gaining daylight on both the “front end” & “back end” of each day. Our sunsets have been slowly getting later since mid Dec. but now the sunrises are getting earlier too. The process is slow this time of year but gains momentum quickly in Feb. & especially during March, April & May.

Our long awaited La Nina is underway with an ‘advisory’ now in effect. A La Nina is a cooling of the equatorial Pacific waters between S. America & Australia. This La Nina episode is not expected to be particularly strong or long-lasting & primarily centered over the Central Pacific. A La Nina winter & spring is often drier than avg. in Jacksonville/NE Fl./SE Ga. with large temp. swings - something we’ve witnessed so far in Dec. & Jan. with some very cold periods. Unfortunately a La Nina is also typically dry for Southern California where the wildfires are raging around Los Angeles.

The final tally(!) is in for “Paddles for PanCan” sponsored by Mayo Clinic - a pickleball fundraiser for the pancreatic cancer network of Jacksonville - $25,649.00. Learn more PanCan (pancreatic cancer action network) * here *. A most sincere thank you for any & all donations, help & volunteers that made the big day possible.
