Morning Anchor

Shay Simon is a morning news anchor at Action News Jax. She joined the station in April 2025. She returns to her home state of Florida after previous roles in Tennessee and South Carolina. As an anchor in Memphis, Shay helped the team earn a TAB award after a shooting spree caused the city’s first emergency shutdown. She also covered multiple high-profile murder trials, including that of rapper Young Dolph’s killer and three former Memphis Police Department officers convicted of federal felonies for their role in Tyre Nichols' death. During her time in Columbia, South Carolina, Shay covered numerous stories that received national attention, including the murder trial of Nathaniel Rowland. In 2021, between covering the pandemic and continuous protests across South Carolina’s capital city, she also published her first book. She founded "Jumping into Journalism" to help college students navigate the ever-changing world of news. She was born and raised in Orlando. She received her broadcast journalism degree from the one and only Florida A&M University. While at FAMU, Shay won an AP Award for her work and interned at CBS in New York City. Shay and her husband are blessed to now call Jacksonville home! When she’s not behind the desk, she is out in the community.
