STORY: Woman dies from injuries after driver ran red light near Regency Square Mall
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly crash on the Wonderwood Bridge in the Mayport area.
JSO said they received multiple 911 calls around 12:55 a.m. Thursday of a crash involving two cars.
Police said a man was traveling the wrong way eastbound in the westbound lane and collided with a Volkswagon head-on.
The first officer to arrive to the scene said the male driver's car was fully engulfed. He was pulled from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said the driver of the Volkswagon was a teenage girl. She and a 10-year-old girl were taken to the hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition.

Traffic homicide is investigating the crash.
Authorities said it is unknown at this time if alcohol was involved and if anyone was wearing a seatbelt.
