Alachua deputies searching for owner of 600 pound hog

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are searching for the owner of a 600 pound hog that they wrangled in Alachua County on Sunday.

Alachua County deputies got reports of a hog 'running at large.'

Deputies found the Hampshire Hog and confirmed it was a pet and not feral.

The hog was friendly and they caught it with a rope on SW 274th Street, deputies said. The hog was very hot from the morning's events but appeared to be in good health.

It was taken to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office Livestock Impound until deputies can find its owner.

Deputies said the hog will be put up for auction if its owner does not come to claim it.

Anyone with information about the hog is asked to call 352-955-1818.
