Jacksonville, FL — Passengers onboard a flight from Atlanta to Jacksonville were released hours after they landed at JAX after a bomb threat had to be investigated.
An airport spokesman told Action News Jax someone reported an explosive device on the plane while it was in the air. When the plane landed around 12:30 a.m., it was swept by JSO’s bomb squad. No explosive device was found.
Investigators with JSO, TSA, FBI and the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Operations Team responded to the call.
We’re expecting to learn more information later today.
We are aware of a security incident at JAX, and access is restricted at the terminal. If you are picking up a passenger, you can meet them at the @JAXDoubleTree on airport property.
