JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Blake Bortles had his time with the 1's on Monday, it was brief. The rookie quarterback saw seven or eight plays with the starters at practice including three during 11 on 11 drills. It's part of a plan put in place by GM Dave Caldwell and Head coach Gus Bradley to give Bortles more experience with the top guys. Current starting quarterback Chad Henne sees the value too.
"He definitely needs that opportunity, you never know what's going to happen in a season, whether I go down or I'm not playing well and he needs to step in, it's a good test, getting some work with the 1's is beneficial" said Henne.
Moving forward the amount of time with the top team will likely stay the same with Bortles expected to take some live snaps with the starters late in the second quarter of Friday's preseason tilt with the Lions. Action Sports will be in Detroit this week as the Jaguars continue to tune up for the regular season.
