JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Police said a man found dead in Jacksonville Beach this morning was killed in a shooting.

“Everybody just kind of gets along, there’s no violence back in here,” Jax Beach Resident, Michael Coleman said. That’s how Michael Coleman describes his Jax Beach neighborhood. He has lived in the area nearly all his life.
“It’s been real peaceful down here, and that’s very shocking this morning,” Coleman said.
The shock he woke up to Tuesday morning was police activity just a couple of feet from his front door.
The Jacksonville Beach police department said it received a call around 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday, reporting that a man was found unresponsive in the area of 1st Avenue South and 10th Street South.
Police later discovered that man was shooting the victim.
Police said there is no immediate danger to the public or the school, and police did not identify that man, as officers are still working to notify his family.
