According to JFRD, firefighters were called out to the area at 4 a.m. and located multiple vehicles on fire in the tow yard. Firefighters don’t believe any of the cars were occupied, and they said most of the damage was already there due to the tow yard holding wrecked cars.
JFRD also told Action News Jax that since there aren’t a lot of fire hydrants on the road, they had to call in extra resources to deal with the smoke and fire, but it is now out.
There are no injuries, but the fire was deemed suspicious. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives division are investigating the cause.

Action News Jax also just learned from Duval County Public Schools that due to the fire being near a major bus terminal, some buses are being re-routed. They said this will cause some delays.
The terminal was not affected by the fire.
Action News Jax will continue to follow the story and update you as events unfold.
