Clay County Firetruck involved in a crash on CR-218

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — UPDATE 9:30 p.m.:

A 34-year-old man driving a Dodge pickup truck was traveling northbound on Hibiscus Ave while a Clay County Fire Truck was traveling eastbound on CR-218.

The Fire Truck did have its emergency equipment activated when the man driving the pickup truck failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.

The pickup truck was hit by the fire truck resulting in the driver of the pickup truck being ejected from his car.

The man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The three men in the fire truck suffered no injuries.

Clay County Fire Rescue vehicle was involved in a crash at CR-218 and Hibiscus.

CR-218 is shut down between Cosmos Av. and Carter Spencer Rd at this time.

Officials are asking that you seek alternate routes if traveling in the area.
