TAMPA, Fla. — Reports of an active shooter alert and lockdown at MacDill Air Force Base Friday morning turned out to be from shots that reportedly were fired near the base, but not from an active shooter on base, according to officials.
The lockdown has also been lifted at MacDill.

Officials told FOX13 in Tampa Bay that MacDill AFB is assisting the Tampa Police Department in their investigation.
TPD is the lead agency investigating the incident.
