Report: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to announce candidacy for president Wednesday on Twitter

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce his bid for the GOP nomination in the 2024 presidential race on Wednesday on Twitter, Fox News is reporting.

Sources told Fox News that DeSantis will declare that he’s a candidate for president, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. during a conversation with Elon Musk on Twitter.

For his part, Musk retweeted a tweet from Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin that said the following:

“BREAKING: @FoxNews confirms Florida Governor @RonDeSantis will announce his 2024 Presidential run tomorrow night, 6pm ET in a Twitter Spaces interview with @elonmusk.”

DeSantis will face other Republican candidates that include former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.).

For the Democratic side of the presidential race, President Joe Biden announced in April that he will seek a second term. Also in April, Robert Kennedy Jr. announced he would challenge Biden for the White House.
