GEORGIA — Action News Jax requested the personnel file for Gregory McMichael, former investigator for the Glynn County District Attorney’s Office, from the state of Georgia.
The document shows that McMichael began his career as a peace officer with the Glynn County Police Department in 1982. Seven years later, he resigned from that position and began working as a peace officer with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
In 1989, he began working for the Brunswick Police Department as a peace officer, and six years later resigned and began his work in the same position for the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office. He resigned from the GCSO on Oct. 31, 1995.

On Nov. 1, 1995, he began working for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit as a peace officer. He retired from this position on June 1, 2019.
According to the state of Georgia, McMichael received no sanctions during his years working for various state law enforcement agencies. The only personal investigation he has been involved in began on May 7, 2020, almost a year after his retirement.
