JSO investigating murder that happened on Ken Knight Drive

Jacksonville, FL. — A fight between two high school girls ends in a murder and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office is looking for more information.

It happened on the 7200 block of Ken Knight Drive on January 26.

JSO says it all started as an argument that began early on social media and continued to escalate throughout the day.

Action News Jax drove by the neighborhood where it happened and couldn’t find any shot spotters in the area, but JSO said with how much online communication happened prior to the incident, it could have potentially been avoided.

Action News Jax was there and saw several crews canvasing and controlling the area around the homes on Ken Knight Drive late that night when the incident occurred.

Director of Investigation in Homeland Security, Mike Bruno, said the exchange between the two high school girls got to the point where a fight ended up being scheduled online.

The arguments gained a lot of interest and led to over 100 people showing up to watch the fight.

JSO said it was just after 6p.m. that both groups siding with both high schoolers showed up and watched as the fight began, ultimately getting even more out of control than it already was and leading to gun shots.

“Shortly there after, gunfire broke out in the area and people started scrambling in sheer chaos,” Bruno said. “There were over 100 people that attended the fight or came to see fight on Ken Knight Drive.

JSO said they’re looking for more engagement in the community, adding it could make a difference in the lives of those impacted if they had gotten a call ahead of time as many knew about it.

They said they are early in this investigation looking at extensive evidence, countless videos and witness interviews.

However, they are still in need of more information on what happened the night.

They are asking anybody with additional information to give them a call.
