JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As more and more people rely on shippers like Amazon to deliver items, the risks of having those items stolen by “porch pirates” grows. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority and Amazon have partnered to provide “Amazon Hub” lockers at seven JTA locations in Jacksonville. The lockers allow people to have packages delivered to a secure location at a busy JTA station of the customer’s choice. An “Amazon Prime” membership is not required.
“This innovative partnership with Amazon provides JTA customers and employees with a safe and secure option for package deliveries at convenient locations, so items can be easily picked up on the way home,” JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. said in a news release statement. “More importantly, we were able to activate these Hub Lockers in time for the holidays, when package theft is unfortunately too common for so many.”
The “Amazon Hub” lockers are located at:
- The Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla (JRTC) at 100 LaVilla Center Drive
- The Intercity Bus Terminal located at 1111 W. Forsyth Street
- Kings Avenue Parking Garage located at 1201 Kings Avenue
