JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sweet Pete’s Candy is a mainstay of downtown Jacksonville -- a destination for people of all ages with a sweet tooth.
But the restaurant space inside hasn’t had the same success.
In 2018, the Candy Apple Café closed its doors after the company said it could not overcome revenue loss from the building being closed during renovations.

New owner Russ Disparti is taking a new approach to the space -- an 'Alice in Wonderland'-themed restaurant named 10/Six Grille.
“It just felt like we needed something whimsical. I have three daughters, I took what I learned from them and what the place looked like, and it screamed 'Alice in Wonderland,'” Disparti said.

The restaurant isn’t even open yet, and it's booked through the weekend.
10/Six grille will focus on lunch and brunch, but is open until 9 p.m. for dinner.
Action News Jax asked Disparti why he thinks his place will survive in downtown.
“A lot of restaurants don’t have family options. There’s nothing to come down here for other than Sweet Pete’s, if you come down here,” Disparti said.
