JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Jacksonville Beach police called off the search for a 15-year-old boy last seen swimming in the ocean just before 6 p.m. Saturday.
The swimmer was last seen swimming around 5th Avenue South.
A sergeant told Action News Jax they had exhausted all resources, including a helicopter, boats, and lifeguards on the beach.

Several witnesses said the scene escalated quickly.
“I saw the boy’s sibling go over to a lifeguard and point at the water. The lifeguard immediately went into the water,” said Daniel Chaves.
The swimmer is described as a black male, 5′8, and 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing black and red swim trunks.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department said there are no plans to go back out on Sunday to look.
Jax Beach Ocean Rescue is now in charge.
The First Alert Weather Team gave the first alert and forecasted a high rip current risk. There were also red flag warnings on Saturday.
