2 critical after North Florida crashes involving 4 motorcycles, deputy

Two separate crashes in Duval and St. Johns counties have left two motorcyclists in life-threatening condition Sunday. The St. Johns crash also involved a deputy.

The crashes involved a combined four motorcyclists, two in each crash.

In both crashes, law enforcement attempted lifesaving measures.

Eastbound SR16 in St. Johns County was shut down for hours as troopers investigated the deputy involved crash. It happened around 5:09 p.m.

Troopers say two motorcycle riders in their 50s were involved in the SR16 crash when both of the riders collided with the deputies.

One of the riders, a woman, is in critical condition. The other, a man, has been released from the hospital.

FHP Master Sgt. Dylan Bryan says the on-duty deputy was making a U-turn at SR16 and Harvest

Lane to begin heading westbound when one of the motorcycles struck the side of the cruiser.

Less than an hour earlier in Jacksonville at the intersection of Pearl and State streets, two motorcycles collided with a black Kia sedan. One rider, a man in his 20s, had life-threatening injuries. The other rider was a male in his 20s as well. He, along with the driver of the Kia, are in stable condition.

An off-duty officer who saw the crash performed lifesaving measures on scene.
