Couple, including father of 15 children, killed in Georgia home with children present

WAYCROSS, Ga. — Police are searching for a gunman who they say broke into a home and killed a couple while children were inside.

Yolanda Faison, 31, and Alonzo Brown, 41, were shot to death Thursday morning. Police said the children might have seen or heard the deadly shooting.

"I think the call actually said, 'Someone is being robbed' or 'Someone just got robbed," Waycross Police Capt. Danny Hampton said.

The Waycross Police Department said it has very little information about the gunman.

Family members told Action News that the oldest child in the house is only 14 years old, and four children are now with family members.

Family members filled the yard, crying and hugging each other after learning of the crime.

"I don't know why y'all took her from me because she didn't bother nobody," said Sandra Power, Faison's mother.

Police said the shootings happened around 1:35 a.m. Investigators still don't know the motive.

"This violence. We need to control this violence. Everybody needs to come together and be bonded as one and cut this violence out," said William Faison, Yolanda Faison's father.

Family members said the couple had been dating for several years.

Brown's sister was distraught. She said her brother leaves behind 15 children.

"He was a good man; he would give you his shirt off his back. For somebody to just take his life and to take him away from his kids ... " said Ashanti Green, Brown's sister.

Faison's father had a message for whoever is responsible.

"They will be caught one way or the other. Whoever done it will be caught," William Faison said.

Police won't say who called 911 or if the couple was targeted. The couple's bodies will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further testing.

Family members said the four children inside the home were all Yolanda Faison's children. Family will be taking them to Jacksonville, where most of the family lives.
