2022 NFL Draft: Jaguars fans react to selection of No. 1 Travon Walker

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Last year, everyone pretty much knew who the Jacksonville Jaguars were going to choose with the No. 1 overall pick, but this year was much different.

In hopes of turning the team around, fans tell Action News Jax they have mixed feelings about the selection of Georgia Bulldogs, Travon Walker.

It was a draft night eruption at Daily’s place, even after a miserable 2021 season, fans are hoping for change moving forward.

“Our defense is going to be stacked and now Trevor Lawrence got that defense, it’s time to go win a Super Bowl now,” Dan Jason Drayton said.

Fans flooded Daily’s Place in support of the Jaguars as thousands showed up. While most loved the pick, others are nervous.

“It’s okay, they should have got Hutchinson or an O-Tackle, they have a superstar quarterback, get an o-tackle,” fan Montrice Woods said.

Mixed emotions seemed to be the feeling for the night but there’s no denying fans are happy to have new talent on the roster.

“As long as we win, as long as he performs and does what he’s supposed to do and help Josh Allen on the other side, all I have to say is go Duval,” another fan said.

Some say the only way to really grow as a team is to constantly show support.“We need all the pressure we can get here for the Jags man, we are going to win this season and take it all the way to the champ and all the way to the top,” fan Alan Wright said.

“Come out and support we got a real team and a real coach, we [are] good this year,” fan Erica Harvey said.

The Jaguars could use help on both sides of the ball, but as the old saying is ‘defense wins championships’ only time will tell if this pick will help the Jags take it to the next level.
