"We're very proud of her decision," Barbara Twist said. "Those five recipients will remember her even after we're gone."

Action News Jax spoke with Barbara Twist as she visited her daughter's grave in Athens, Georgia the day after Christmas.

She said several people have reached out to her about Megan.

"It's amazing how many people she impacted. Every day I hear from people I don't even know," Barbara Twist said.

She said it’s been nearly a month since her daughter’s death and the family wants closure.

She said they are waiting for answers from police.

"Anything that we can find out would help us piece together what happened to our daughter would be wonderful," Barbara Twist said.

To cope with their loss during the Christmas holiday, Barbara Twist said they spent time watching old videos of Megan with her nieces.

"They had this fun, young aunt who loved to play with them and loved to kiss them and run around to chase and they won't have that anymore. It just breaks our heart," Barbara Twist said.

Barbara Twist said she has reached out to the district attorney’s office for help and has been speaking with a victim’s advocate.
