CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office said it has terminated three employees after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct.
CCSO said in a release that it began a criminal investigation on August 5, 2018 into the allegations of inappropriate conduct of several employees assigned to the Department of Detention.

No criminal charges were filed as a result of that investigation, CCSO said.
After the criminal investigation, CCSO conducted an administrative investigation to determine if any agency policies were violated.
CCSO said the following employees were terminated: Deputy Austin Hatcher, Deputy Marcus Beard and Deputy Kory Clarida.
Sheriff Darryl Daniels released the following statement:
"The Clay County Sheriff's Office has a duty to provide humane treatment of inmates who are housed in the jail. To that end, our Department of Detention employees are expected to carry out the mission of the Sheriff's Office in a professional manner that is reflective of the expectations of our citizens."

In August of last year, the sheriff's office announced it was investigating possible sexual misconduct between deputies and inmates.
The investigation didn't turn up anything criminal, but after an administrative review it decided to fire deputy Austin Hatcher, Deputy Marcus Beard and Deputy Kory Clarida.
A mother who came to see her son at the jail Thursday afternoon says she is now concerned for his safety.
“I’m just worried and concerned because nowadays ain’t no telling what is going on behind bars or out in the streets so I’m worried about him but I can’t do anything. I hope the outcome is a better system and a safer place for the inmates ,” Lavetta Dowthard explained.
Sheriff Daniels told Action News Jax he has a zero tolerance policy for employee misconduct.
