VILANO BEACH, Fla. — According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, four people were rescued from a sailboat that was taking on water near the St. Augustine Inlet Monday evening.
The Sheriff’s Office said its marine unit and a helicopter headed to help rescue the boaters.
St. Johns County Fire and Rescue also had units there to help with the rescue, along with the St. Augustine Fire Department and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
SJCFR said that because of heavy surf and shallow water the rescue jet ski along with rescue swimmers were used for the rescue. They were able to rescue one person at a time. Two adults and two children were rescued without injury.
