4th person charged in connection with Orange Park teen’s murder

Deashaun Green (Clay County Sheriff's Office)

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that a fourth teenager has been arrested in connection with a 17-year-old’s murder last month.

Deashaun Green, 18, of Orange Park, is the latest to be charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jandel Rodriguez.

Action News Jax first told you on Jan. 3 after Rodriguez’s body was discovered by a person walking near Bonnlyn Drive in Orange Park. Detectives said Rodriguez died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

CCSO identified Andrew Neeper and Dejerrick Gillum first. Detectives located both teen suspects at a local foster care home. Neeper was arrested and charged with murder and Gillum was arrested and charged with evidence tampering and accessory to murder.

This week, the CCSO announced the arrest of a third teen, 18-year-old Christopher Walters.

Deputies said an ongoing dispute between the suspects and the victim was behind the fatal shooting.

Action News Jax learned from a neighbor that Rodriguez was under the care of KidsFirst Florida, a local foster care agency.
