5-year-old Jacksonville boy sworn in as JSO's junior officer after saving mother's life

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is calling a local 5-year-old boy a hero for his efforts in saving his mother's life.

Officers say Saman and his mother were walking to his school when the boy's father approached them and shot his mother in the chest.

JSO said Saman immediately sprang into action and ran to a nearby home and asked for someone to call police.  He told dispatchers that his mother was shot by his father.

Thankfully, the boy's mother is alive. JSO sworn him in as a junior officer for his quick actions and incredible work.
