Action News Investigates: Green Cove Springs officer resigns amid allegations of sex on the job

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — Action News has learned a Green Cove Springs officer was accused of having sex while on the job.

We first told you about Officer Mark Wilson in July of last year. Then, he was under investigation for having an inappropriate relationship with a confidential informant. Now in a new report, page after page details a sexual relationship between Wilson and a woman living in Green Cove Springs. She said they had sex while Wilson was on the job with the Green Cove Springs Police Department.

The woman filed the complaint last September. It came two months after an Action News investigation showed Wilson was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a prostitute and abusing his police power. Then, the chief told us there would be no more chances for Wilson.

In the latest report, the woman claims they had sex multiple times while he was on duty, including "sex on the hood of the patrol car." The report said Wilson also traveled from Green Cove Springs, to the Duval Detention Center to drop off a kid arrested, but instead of driving back, drove to the woman's work in Arlington.  He denied the sexual relationship to investigators and said they had a "professional relationship." But investigators questioned that with more than 3,000 texts exchanged in a year.

We went to Wilson's house Friday. Wilson handed us a Facebook conversation and told us a different story about the woman who made the complaint. "All the harassment we're having," said Wilson.

While the investigation couldn't prove he had sex while on the job, it did say they didn't believe Wilson's story and that he tried to "deceive" his colleagues.

“All I can say is I gave my resignation to the Green Cove Springs Police,” said Wilson.

We did try to reach out to the woman who made the complaint, but she was not home. Action News has a copy of Wilson’s resignation letter. Wilson did tell us to contact his attorney. We did leave a message for him late Friday evening. When we hear back, we’ll let you know what he says.
