Northbound lanes back open on Southside Boulevard after reported gas leak

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 2:01 a.m.- JSO said all lanes of Southside Boulevard are back open.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has said all northbound lanes of Southside Boulevard between Deerwood Park and J. Turner Butler Boulevard are closed because of a reported gas leak.

There’s no timetable for when lanes will reopen.

A spokesperson for Teco Peoples Gas confirmed damage to one of its pipes.

“I can confirm a Peoples Gas pipeline was damaged by a third-party construction contractor. Initial repairs are underway.”

Updates will be provided when more information is released.
