UPDATE: American Airlines flights resume following nationwide grounding due to technical issues

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE, 8 AM: American Airlines has resumed flights Tuesday morning after halting all flights due to technical issues.

The Federal Aviation Administration had an advisory earlier in the morning stating, “groundstop for all AA flights.”

Jacksonville International Airport told Action News Jax that significant delays are still expected because of the stoppage and travelers planning to fly Tuesday are advised to check their flight status.

UPDATE: An advisory from the Federal Aviation Administration says there is a “Nationwide Groundstop for all AAL Main and Subs.”

American Airlines is experiencing technical issues on Christmas Eve. The airlines told Action News Jax on Tuesday morning:

“A technical issue is affecting American flights this morning. Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”

Jacksonville International Airport is recommending travelers with flights Tuesday morning should call the airlines.

“Our information is American Airlines is having system wide impacts. There are delays,” Michael Stewart, director of external affairs tell Action News Jax.
