American Airlines flights resume following nationwide grounding due to technical issues

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — American Airlines has resumed flights Tuesday morning after halting all flights due to technical issues.

The Federal Aviation Administration had an advisory earlier in the morning stating, “Ground stop for all AA flights.” The ground stop lasted about an hour, but it impacted many flights at the Jacksonville International Airport.

JIA told Action News Jax that significant delays are still expected because of the stoppage and travelers planning to fly Tuesday are advised to check their flight status.

Action News Jax talked with passengers who experienced delays at JIA.

“It is kind of frustrating,” Melody Angelica, who is heading to Argentina for the holidays, said.

Angelica and her family now have a 7-hour lay over in Miami and they are hopeful they will make it to their destination just before Christmas Day.

American Airlines said in a statement, “...our team is working diligently to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible.”
