Another city council member calls for investigation into JEA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville city council member Rory Diamond is calling for a special city council committee to investigate JEA.

Diamond represents the beaches area of Jacksonville. He helped head up the investigation into the JEA bonus plan that led to CEO Aaron Zahn’s firing.

Diamond shared an opinion article on Facebook from Dec. 27 titled: ‘Investigation concludes JEA execs were trying to steal from people of Jax.’

In it, he said in order to restore trust in city government and specifically JEA, he’s calling for a thorough investigation into JEA and its recent activities.

He goes on to say the investigation should be handled by the city council via a special investigation committee so the proceedings would be in public meetings.

The article was published the same day Action News Jax learned JEA Chief Financial Officer Ryan Wannemacher is out of a job.

JEA hasn’t confirmed if he was fired or quit. You can read more about the move and the 1,000 pages of documents released Friday about the potential sale of JEA that has been halted here.
