MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office tells Action News Jax of an armed carjacking that occurred Saturday evening on the 1000 block of Blanding Boulevard.
According to CCSO, once units in the area responded to the situation, the suspect took off.
Units pursued the suspect until he crashed, according to CCSO.
CCSO said the suspect,Derrick Jerome Dunham, 31 years old, is now in custody and officers retrieved the firearm he was using. Duhnam was transported to the hospital and then booked into the Clay County Jail.

The victim, who was in the car with the suspected carjacker, was also transported to the hospital, according to CCSO.
CCSO said three other vehicles were damaged in the crash.
"We want to commend our members for their fast and vigilant work. It’s unfortunate that criminal behavior like this occurs; however, we are proud of the work of our agency members and the community," said Christopher Padgett, the public information officer of Clay County Sheriff's Office.
