A Duval County Public School district police lieutenant was arrested Tuesday on a warrant out of Michigan.
A lawyer for Sean MacMaster issued a statement Wednesday that said the arrest is the result of a child custody dispute.
- Documents show MacMaster was arrested at Duval County School Police headquarters Tuesday.
- MacMaster is charged with criminal sexual conduct on a victim under 13; was given a $25,000 bond under special conditions of having no contact with the victim, to return within 2 weeks and has to wear a GPS monitor.
- MacMaster waived his first appearance in court Wednesday afternoon.
Action News Jax received a statement from MacMaster's attorney, which said in part:
"Lt. MacMaster is a respected member of the local law enforcement community. He denies these previously-litigated and unfounded claims by his former spouse.
"From our perspective this is a gross manipulation of our legal system, not for the purpose of justice for a child's injury."
Action News Jax received a statement from the office of the Michigan Attorney General:
"...both Sean MacMaster and his stepfather Larry Orr have been charged with two counts each of first criminal sexual assault involving a young minor. MacMaster was arrested in Jacksonville; Orr was arrested and arraigned in Michigan today. Orr is a habitual offender and was not given a bond."
