Ascension St. Vincent’s provides increased health care support to St. Johns County

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County Hospital is set to open its doors on July 6, 2022. To celebrate, the hospital is hosting a free, “bring the entire family” grand opening event on July 1.

Festivities will include refreshments and snacks, carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, performances from local youth dance studios, hospital tours, and more.

As explained in St. Vincent’s latest press release, the hospital is 150,000 square feet and has 56 beds, which includes eight ICU beds. The building costs associated with the hospital and adjacent medical office building are approximately $175 million.

Ascension St. Vincent’s has created approximately 600 new jobs by building and opening the St. Johns County hospital location.

Services offered include emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, heart care, orthopedics and musculoskeletal care, general surgery, lab services and imaging.

“Our significant investment in this wonderful community is rooted in our desire to continue creating new options for St. Johns County residents to get the care they need, with the highest quality and compassion available, right here at home, right when they need us,” said Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast President and CEO Tom VanOsdol.

St. Johns County’s population jumped 43 percent from 2010 to 2020 and is considered one of the fastest-growing counties in America.

This is the fourth hospital for Ascension St. Vincent’s in the surrounding area. They include Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside, which opened its doors back in 1916, Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside, formerly St. Luke’s, which dates to 1873 and Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay County.

Ascension St. Vincent’s broke ground on the new hospital on December 4, 2020. The selected property is part of a mixed-use development known as Fountains at St. Johns. The address listed is 205 Trinity Way, St. Johns, Florida, 32259. It is located along I-95 and County Road 210.
