The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a prison guard during a major operation on Thursday.
Detectives began Operation Checkered Flag in January when they received a tip that Dylan Hilliard was supplying large amounts prescription pain medication to the Bradford County community.
The sheriff’s office drug task force found out that Hilliard was a correctional officer at the Florida State Prison.
Investigators say Hilliard bought oxycodone from people with valid prescriptions, sold the pills and used the money to support his auto racing hobby.
Hilliard was put under surveillance and detectives confirmed that he was selling illegal prescription medication from his house and from the prison.

Hilliard resigned from his correctional officer position.
Investigators identified 81 people who bought or sold oxycodone with Hilliard. The Department of Corrections says some of the people involved in the illegal operations were correctional employees.
One of the prison employees, Maj. Charles Gregory Combs, was arrested for participating in the illegal drug operation. Combs was arrested Wednesday and immediately fired.
