CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — A severe case of road rage on I-95 in Camden County, Georgia, left a man unconscious, in a pool of blood on the side of the highway last Friday.
The victim, Matt Oliver, was taken to the hospital where he now has severe head trauma. His brother-in-law, Phillip Klapp, said he currently can’t walk and will have to go through major physical therapy.
According to the police report, the suspect drove in the left lane at 80 mph. The victim brake-checked him, which led to a minor crash. Both vehicles pulled to the side of I-95 at mile marker 19.

“The guy who did this has a lot of angst in his heart,” Klapp told Action News Jax’s Robert Grant. “He should be charged with attempted murder when he went back and stomped him again.”
Yurden faces aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges. Action News Jax Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson explained this is just the initial charge. Depending on Oliver’s recovery, the charge could be upgraded to attempted murder according to Carson.
The man filming is Brandon Byfield. He was driving southbound on I-95 and pulled over when he realized something seemed off.
“If I wasn’t there, he would probably kill him,” Byfield said.
“Thank God he was there, because he probably would’ve killed him,” Klapp added.
According to the police report, the suspect told police he went to Oliver’s car to get his insurance information and Oliver threatened him with a knife.
“Mr. Yerdon felt scared for his family, so he approached the male since he thought he was grabbing a weapon and they began to fight again,” the police report read. However, the deputy said they found a knife, but it was locked up in a case in the passenger seat.
Byfield said he never saw a knife being used during the fight.

Klapp said the video serves as a warning to avoid road rage.
“My best advice is get out of the way, let them go around you. Pull off the road,” he said.
Yerdon also faces a charge of cruelty to children, because his 13-year-old son and wife were also in the pickup truck at the time.
