Lifeguards The City of Jacksonville is looking to hire lifeguards for the summer. (City of Jacksonville)

Summer is right around the corner, and the City of Jacksonville needs to hire lifeguards for city pools.

The City says you have to be at least 15 years old to apply, and you have to complete training before getting hired. You can find the dates and locations for the available training sessions here.

The full training course is a week long with all instruction on site. There’s also a hybrid option where all the classroom work is online, and you only report to the pool for the in-water training.

At the training you’ll be required to complete a 300-yard swim, tread water for without using hands for two minutes and retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of a diving well.

The starting salary for lifeguards is $10 an hour. For more information you can call (904) 255-4271 or email bealifeguard@coj.net.
