JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Less than 24 hours after an Action News Jax Investigation revealed four city pools were still closed for repairs, one of those pools has reopened.
When it did, it took less than an hour for North Jacksonville swimmers to show up at the Harts Road Pool on Tuesday afternoon.
Lifeguards were ready and waiting to keep them safe.
City records show the pool had needed a new motor and pump assembly since December 2018.
All of the city’s public pools were supposed to open for summer more than a month ago for Memorial Day Weekend.
Action News Jax reported in May that eight pools were unable to meet that deadline.
Since then, the city has fixed and reopened five of those pools.

Last week, Action News Jax asked city spokesperson Nikki Kimbleton why the city didn’t fix all the pools over the winter.
“Some of these pools were actually being fixed over the winter. Some of the problems were just so severe,” said Kimbleton.
The following three pools are still closed for repairs:
- Englewood High School Pool, 4412 Barnes Road
- Robert F. Kennedy Pool, 1139 Ionia Street
- Julius Guinyard Pool, 1358 Jefferson Street
