Clay schools release reopening options, but some parents have concerns

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Clay County school leaders are working to get a new plan in place to reopen schools in the fall. This all comes after President Donald Trump pushed to full reopen schools across the country, threatening to withhold federal funding for those who do not reopen in-person.

QUICK FACTS:

  • The district is now trying to a get a head county for the number of students willing to return in person versus those who want to stick to virtual learning or hybrid learning: combing the two.
  • Registration for virtual learning went live on Thursday. A spokesperson for the Clay County School District said in a statement, “We need to try to start getting numbers on how many students will be signing up to prepare for the fall.”
  • Next Tuesday, there is a school board workshop at 3:30 p.m. to discuss and hopefully finalize a plan.
  • Clay County District Schools released options for sending kids back to school in August: The four options include traditional brick and mortar (all grades), Clay Virtual Academy (K-12), OneClay Online (K-6 only), and Blended Learning (7-12 only)
  • Note: reopening plans are not finalized yet. School district wants to get an idea of what parents would choose for their kids. Register here: https://oneclay.net/Page/5522
