Family identifies man killed in plane crash in Middleburg

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax is learning new information about one of the victims of Wednesday’s deadly plane crash in Middleburg.

The Florida Highway Patrol said multiple people were killed in the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration said three people were on board when the small plane crashed into a wooded area near the intersection of Carter Spencer Road and Violet Way.

Action News Jax’s Jessica Barreto is speaking with the family of one of the victims of the crash, Carl Powell.

Powell is being remembered as a family man and a pilot with more than 20 years of experience.

Powell’s family said planes were second nature to him, so they want to know what went wrong and who was flying.

Powell was a father of four.
