GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FLa. —
Police identified the victim of Tuesday’s triple shooting in Green Cove Springs as 18-year-old Skylar Shane Townsend.
Clay County Schools told Action News Jax the teen was a former student at Orange Park High School.
Neighbors described hearing up to 20 rounds of gunfire Tuesday night around 6 p.m. Genna Frazier moved to the neighborhood about seven months ago with her husband and three kids.
“We grabbed the kids and ran up in the stairwell and hunkered them down in the stairwell,” she said. Frazier and her husband are former military and said it sounded like two different guns in what she called a gun fight. She immediately called 911 and stepped outside to see what happened.
“We saw them working on [Townsend]. You can still see the blood in the road,” she told Action News Jax’s Robert Grant. Townsend later died in the hospital.
Frazier’s husband found a second victim about a block away.
He went to the hospital, but is expected to survive.
Green Cove Springs Police said a third victim showed up at the hospital but is also expected to survive.

Action News Jax spoke to several neighbors who said the area of Center and Citizen Street is usually very quiet.
Many of them lived in the area for dozens of years.
The shooting happened across the street from Green Cove Springs Junior High School.
“If this had happened two hours earlier, some of those kids might have caught a round.”
As of Wednesday night, police have not announced any arrests in the shooting.
